Hey all,
This weeks homework is about making the most of your time. Feeling exhaustion is common at this point in the term. As you begin to get back into the routine of learning always remember things will seem difficult at first. Remember at this point in high school you have already encountered the hardest concepts. Everything you learn now just requires dedication and focus for you to master it.
This weeks homework is themed around more abstract applications of what you have learnt. This is a muscle in your brain you need to strengthen through repetition.
Studying can suck. Headaches🤕. Disrupted sleep 😴. Or maybe you just want to look smarter? We are excited to announce we are in final stages of a partnership with a blue light glasses manufacturer and will be getting discounts for Edzion homework subscribers in the coming weeks. Check out how they can change your study game and join the presale list here, spaces are limited. As always, we want to make learning enjoyable so you can keep studying.

Question 5 (15 marks)Â
Penicillin was discovered in London in September of 1928. Doctor Alexander Fleming was a bacteriologist who worked at St Mary’s Hospital, London. It is reported that after he returned from a summer vacation in Scotland he found a messy lab bench and a good deal more. Upon examining some colonies of Staphylococcus aureus, Fleming noted that a mould called Penicillium notatum had contaminated his Petri dishes. After carefully placing the dishes under his microscope, he was amazed to find that the mould prevented the normal growth of the staphylococci. It took Fleming a few more weeks to grow enough of the mould so that he was able to confirm his findings. His conclusions turned out to be phenomenal: there was some factor in the Penicillium mould that not only inhibited the growth of the bacteria but, more important, might be harnessed to combat infectious diseases.
